Lori Senecal – A CEO Who Inspires

In her role as Chief Executive Officer of the Crispin Porter and Bogusky Advertising Agency, Canadian native Lori Senecal sees herself not just as a CEO, but as mentor to other leaders in the organization, especially women. They in turn will become mentors to younger employees. As the youngest of four children growing up in Montreal and parents who had a strong work ethic, Lori strived to have her own goals, achievements, and identity. With a father who worked in the banking industry and a mother who worked in education, Lori developed an appreciation for business and creativity. This has carried over well into her executive career. Prior to being named CEO of CP & B two years ago, she was Global Chairman and CEO of KBS, and before that, President of the New York office of McCann Erickson. A young adult marketing specialty unit, TAG Ideation, was started while she was Chief Innovative Officer for McCann World Group. She wants her employees to have strong careers that they can be proud of. To that end, she has sponsored many agency wide invention competitions to develop inspiration and new ideas. This in turn, gives the people who work for her focus and a sense of pride. For two years, she served as the Jury Chair for the Isaac Awards, which honors and recognizes invention. Student invention is also honored with the Isaax + Award, which she founded. Ad Week named her to their “Women to Watch” list in 2014, and “Agency Executives to Watch” in 2016. She is currently a member of the AD Council Board of directors. In 2013, the AWNY Game Changers Awards recognized her with a Quantum Leap award for leadership and innovation.

Lori Senecal believes that you have to create your own leadership opportunities, use your instincts, and listen to your consumers. She learned early on, in her part-time job coaching gymnastics in high school and college that you have to strike a balance between achieving excellence and having compassion. She uses this same approach in her employees; she wants them to create their own opportunity and passion. These are the things that will improve a company and push it to the next level.
