Lacey & Larkin Fight Back By Defending the Individuals Arpaio Discriminated Against

The cofounders of Front Page Confidential, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, had strong things to say in response to Donald Trump’s decision to pardon Joe Arpaio, currently the most controversial sheriff in recent American history. Learn more about Jim Larkin: https://michael-lacey.com/ and http://www.laceyandlarkinfronterafund.org/about-lacey-larkin-frontera-fund/michael-lacey/

Ten years ago, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were personally visited and arrested per Joe Arpaio’s orders for releasing information about an investigation by a grand-jury. During the time of the arrest Lacey was an executive editor of the newspaper chain, Village Voice Media, and Larkin was the CEO. They had recently released a story about the probe in the Phoenix New Times.

Lacey and Larkin made it very clear that the grand jury was scrutinizing them personally. The New Times was very active in publishing information that shared the wrongdoings by Arpaio since he became Sheriff in 1992.

Some of the scariest things carried out under Arpaio’s leadership included cuffing pregnant mothers during childbirth to the tables, the intricacies of Tent City, and the lack of care given to prisoners which lead many of them to premature deaths.

Arpaio has used his power since 1992 to utilize the police force to ensure that he stays in his seat as Sheriff and to counter any others who attempted to run as Maricopa County Sheriff. He carried negativity for years against any media outlets or newspapers that spoke out against his decisions and blatantly ignored many rights given to Latinos that lived in Maricopa county.

He blatantly allowed the police officers working under his reign to discriminate against Hispanics and Latinos and investigate them for no reason at all. No one in this country should feel scared to drive down the street or go for a walk because they might be judged negatively and potentially harassed by the individuals that swear to protect and serve.

Arpaio’s arrest of Lacey and Larkin was an obvious disregard for the First Amendment and raised brows across the entire country. Very quickly after arresting the journalist’s Arpaio had dropped and closed the case after a brief press conference.

Five years after the event Maricopa County paid the journalists over $3 million dollars to settle the wrongful arrest. That money was invested into a nonprofit called the Frontera Fund which fights to ensure that migrants and immigrants’ rights are maintained.

While Larkin and Lacey continue to stand up for the rights of those who are imposed by the pressure of Joe Arpaio and the support he receives from President Donald Trump, Arpaio receives no punishment for the cruelty he imposed on others for the last twenty-four years in Arizona. Not only is he avoiding prison time, he has decided recently to run for Senate. Lacey and Larkin, despite the ridiculous system protecting someone as terrible as Arpaio, continue to fight on in defense of Hispanics and Latinos in this country that experience discrimination from the people who should be working to help them.

The Frontera Group is a beautiful result of the disgraceful actions allowed by individuals like Donald Trump and George Arpaio but there is still so much to be done. Luckily their organization will be there to defend those who aren’t given the opportunity to defend themselves.

Lime Crime, China & A New Frontier

The cosmetic industry is one of the most popular and fascinating industries on earth. Some of the biggest names in pop-culture comes from this exclusive industry. This includes Maybelline, MAC, Almay, Revlon and Covergirl. On the other hand, there is a new applicant that’s bidding for the top position, and it’s known as Lime Crime. This company was founded by Russian-immigrant Doe Deere. This extraordinary woman has brought new life back into the mix. Lime Crime uses some of the boldest and most vivid colors with its cosmetics line. Thanks to its huge success, the brand is looking to expand into new territories, which happens to be in China.

Having the ability to sell the products in China could potentially be very lucrative, but there are many stipulations involved when dealing with foreign markets. One of the major issues that is involved with cosmetic wholesale is that the products must be tested on animals. This is a touchy situation because Lime Crime is against animal-testing, and it does not do any testing in this manner. One of the solutions to this issue is that Lime Crime could ship its products from the United States directly to the Chinese market. Of course, there are many issues with this style of shipping because of its complex shipping-logistics. The company would have to pay numerous taxes and manage duties. On top of that, the company would be held responsible for handling any international returns, which can be a headache.

On another note, LimeCrime has partnered with Revolve to handle this matter. Revolve is an e-commerce fashion platform. By using this platform, Lime Crime can by-pass all of the distribution and logistical issues by advertising its products directly to its Chinese fan-base. This partnership was a match made in heaven because Revolve is a legitimate platform, and it shares the same perspective as Lime Crime. Since the Chinese market is already full of counterfeit products, this e-commerce-hub will be put in place for anyone who’s seeking authentic products. In the end, Lime Crime has found a solution that works, and only time will tell if this frontier is successfully conquered.

Beloved Home Improvement Series To Make Reappearance

I remember laying around in the summer afternoons watching back to back episodes of my favorite home improvement series, Trading Spaces, when I was younger. I couldn’t get enough of the transformation that each neighbor’s home would be dragged through while the opposite neighboring team was left to make the design choices for their neighbor’s house. And, at the end of the show, the few tense moments each team would go through to see if the other neighbor would love the new room that their across the street bestie decorated. Some rooms worked, some rooms were spectacular flops, and we all had those designers we loved (or hated).

It was just announced, in the coolest video ever, that the show will be brought back with the original cast, even the original host, Paige Davis, will be present for the redecorating mayhem. Airing on TLC, April 7th, Trading Spaces will be airing a special one hour episode to catch viewers up on what the cast has been doing since the last series ran. And, I believe that this show will be a hit like it’s original airing was. The clip detailing the premier has been viewed 4 million times thus far. But don’t take my word for it, view the clip announcing the series comeback here and enjoy the good vibes.
